The Plan

I had my endocrinologist appointment yesterday morning. Here is what I found out. There were two spots on the left side of my thyroid. The largest was "less than an inch, around 7/8 of an inch" and the smallest was "around 1/6 of an inch". That was the one the surgeon told me was less than a millmeter. She said that it was papillary carcinoma which is the "easiest" to treat. Really not anything new. She has already changed my synthroid dosage.

As far as treatment, I'm kind of confused about it but I'm sure there's a reason for why we are doing it this way. I will be on synthroid another month, she wants to wait to make sure everyything is healed first. Then I will be put on Cytomel for another couple of weeks. Then she will take me off the Cytomel and once my TSH levels are at zero I will go in and do the scan to check and see if any thyroid tissue is left. If I understood her correctly, if there is not any left I'm good. If there is tissuue still let than I would have to do the Iodine ablation.

So while it's not moving as quickly as I wouuld like it to, we're heading in the right direction. Of course I am a little frustrated because I just want to be done and keep moving forward. But I guess we're getting there right?

Work has been ok. I have to say it's been the longest four hours I've done though. LOL I go back full time starting Monday. The funny thing is that due to the 4th holiday, it will only be a three day week. Then I'll be off the following Monday. So at least I'm easing in gently right?
